Meet Our Ministers
David B. Lindsey, Senior Minister

The Reverend David Lindsey became the Senior Minister at Lynnhurst Congregational United Church of Christ in 2007. Born and raised in Owensboro, Kentucky, Rev. Lindsey earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater from Centre College in Kentucky after graduating from Center Grove High School in Greenwood, Indiana.  He holds a Master of Divinity Degree from the Claremont School of Theology in southern California, where he received the Cook Award for Excellence in Religion and the Arts upon graduation.  Given his background in both religion and the arts, David fits in with Lynnhurst’s artistic spirit!

He had previously served as an Associate Pastor at the Manhattan Beach Community UCC in southern California, where he specialized in youth and family ministries.  Rev. Lindsey was ordained in 2003 at the Mt. Hollywood Congregational UCC in Los Angeles, where he served as an intern during his seminary education.

John Slothower, Associate Minister

John was ordained to the ministry in 1977 and his first call was as Chaplain and Humanities Coordinator for the Guthrie Theater in

Minneapolis. He served this call for three years, ministering to the acting company, developing outreach to the religious community and creating public humanities programs with actors, playwrights and scholars.

In 1982 he began attending Lynnhurst Congregational UCC, and a year or so later began to volunteer his time and talent as the part-time, non-stipendiary (i.e., unpaid), Associate Minister. His duties include pastoral coverage when the senior minister is absent, preaching, working with the deacons and filling in as necessary in the pastoral work of the church.

John has continued in secular employment and currently works for Best Buy company as the program lead for the companies Trade-in program.
