Youth Education Lynnhurst is a vital place for children and adults to learn of the living word of God. Energetic, committed members serve as volunteer teachers for the Sunday school program for children from toddlers to high school students. A cribbery is open for the very smallest children so their parents can attend the service. Sunday school runs concurrently with the church service. Sunday school classrooms attend a portion of the service as a class periodically. Confirmation Each September young men and women in eighth grade are invited to begin a course of study and exploration that culminates with the rite of Confirmation in May. Action and reflection, not rote, is the guiding principle. Under the pastor’s tutelage, confirmands visit mosques, synagogues and art museums, then relate the experiences to their own faith. Studying the Bible and church history and exploring their own beliefs prepare confirmands for the responsibilities and joys of church membership. Adult Education During the school year, Lynnhurst offers monthly learning opportunities for adults. Topics have ranged from Troubled Children to Pets in the Home. The hour-long sessions after the Sunday service are open to all who are interested. Child care is available. Parents of Young Children Designed for parents with children under five years, this group meets monthly after the Sunday service for fellowship, education and information-sharing. Speakers have led discussions on topics such as talking about death or disasters with your children and sharing your faith with your children. Child care is provided. |
